Trugids systems and parking lot standards

It’s necessary for any parking lot to undergo some sort of engineering analysis in terms of the parking design. That is why there is a permeable pavers system in place that is meant to evaluate the amount of infiltration and permeability in each site. This is done by adapting to the depth and the fill aggregate used below the parking surface. This being the case, it provides for maximum design flexibility enabling it to withstand the county code parking lot system. The system provides for an ADA compliancy if it’s properly installed.

Alternative designs that should be considered by designers

There are a lot of factors that come into play when planning a parking lot. These include the runoff coefficients, local code requirements and budgetary constraints. Before making your decision on whether to go for asphalt, gravel or concrete, it’s important to evaluate the kind of improvements you and your client wish to make.

Ideas parking lot designers should consider

Other than the general construction cost, its paramount for designers to consider the long-term benefits and the additional costs that might be incurred by permeable pavers as opposed to the traditional paving system. As opposed to concrete or asphalt that require detention/retention systems which costs more, truegrid paves way for a more stabilized, natural looking surface that can handle flooding and is maintenance free.

Permeable pavers and commercial paving system

In order to have a strong and durable commercial paving system, its paramount for the parking lot design in place to  withstand harsh weather conditions . Ashphalt and concrete are some of the strongest materials used in the construction but are at times expensive and difficult to install. They are also prone to high maintenance cost. They also disrupt the natural flow of water and absorbs a lot of heat causing maintenance problems and negative environmental effects.

Permeable pavers and commercial paving system

Permeable pavers presents a number of advantages for your paving project.

Sustainability – As opposed to asphalt and concrete that require large amount of raw materials, energy and contains a substantial amount of petroleum product, permeable pavers are more environmental friendly and are made from recycled plastics hence reducing the need to transport them. The fill and substantial materials are acquired locally reducing energy consumption and require little heavy metal to install.

Porosity – Given that they are porous in nature, it doesn’t interfere with the natural flow of water or contribute negatively to soil erosion which enables it to filter pollutants to the surface keeping them out of the water table. Unlike the concrete counterparts, they do not absorb heat hence reducing the “heat island”effect leading to higher air conditioning cost. Due to these features, permeable pavers are a good match for any commercial building project.

Weather resistance – As opposed to concrete paving systems that are prone to constant damage in harsh weather condition, water that collects beneath the surface and frozen during winter can lead to cracks and end up buckling the paved surface as it expands. Given that permeable pavers are not a contiguous surface, it doesn’t store heat from the sun allowing water to drain through the surface.
